Hypoglycemic and hypocholesterolemic activity with clinical studies
BeramChol® was born from the union of AmaChol® amaranth with bergamot fruit (Citrus bergamia) typical of Southern Italy (Calabria). The result is a product with antioxidant, hypoglycemic and hypocholesterolemic activity, useful in the management of metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular health and lipid control.

COMPOSITION

BeramChol® is a plant phytocomplex based on AmaChol® amaranth and bergamot.

AmaChol® is an amaranth extract clinically tested for its effects on cholesterol and glycemic index. The results of the in vivo study demonstrated a reduction in post-prandial blood sugar and glycated hemoglobin, a significant reduction in cholesterol and above all weight loss and BMI, in 3 months of administration. AmaChol® has been associated with bergamot, a fruit naturally rich in flavonoids, including naringin, neohesperidin and neoeriocitrin. Scientific studies suggest a potential protective role of bergamot flavonoids and glycosides in the management of different aspects of the metabolic syndrome and in the reduction of liver inflammation. Bergamot, in fact, acts on cytokine levels and brings an improvement in insulin sensitivity accompanied by weight loss.

As demonstrated in the nutritional table, BeramChol® contains 39.1 g of carbohydrates per 100 g of product, mainly complex carbohydrates, i.e. those with slower digestion because they release energy little by little and act by prolonging the sense of satiety, a property enhanced by presence of fiber.

FOOD SAFETY

The presence of amaranth AmaChol® with a health claim for cholesterol metabolism (see Attachment 1-Botanicals of the Ministerial Decree of August 10, 2018) provides BeramChol® with added value in terms of food safety. Amaranth is defined as a “superfood” as it offers high levels of nutrients with beneficial properties for health with a view to prevention.

USE

BeramChol® can be used both as a single ingredient and in combination with other extracts to create a low glycemic index dietary supplement for individuals with insulin resistance or metabolic diseases. BeramChol® is suitable for celiacs and vegans and is recommended for the prevention and management of metabolic syndrome.
